../m_image1.gif REX became our family when he was 2months after birth.

When we stroll around my hometown, one lady who has a Labrador Retriever and lives neighbor said rude things to us.
gHow come you buy a dog like Doberman!? This is a brutal dog! They even bite their owners! When the heck will you send him for training?h I did not have any knowledge about dogs at that time, gWell, I donft have a plan to send him for a training ch I replied. The lady said, gNo Way! He must be harmful for other dogs, he will attack other persons!h
I was upset with what she said, but I did not argue with her. Just after
that, what she said to us made me decide that I will not send REX for
training, but raise him by myself.
I read every books about dogs, ask every things from many dog owners, I
believe that I did whatever it is right for REX among the experience.

When REX is 6 months after birth, he grown up bigger than other dogs. I
made my time to be with him as much as possible, love him so much, and
punish him thoroughly for his discipline. I asked as many persons as possible to touch him when his growth period. Let him play with other dogs a lot, and even with a cat I have.
I assure that he has gentle personality when he is 1 year old. Anybody can touch him friendly.

I take him for shopping and feel comfortable to keep him on a leash to post around there. REX never bark at any first met persons who pet him, or kids trying to smack him.

One other day, we met the lady with Labrador again. That Labrador was keep barking furiously to REX, but REX never got upset.
The lady who was barking at us as
g He is dangerous unless he goes for
training!h
, realized that REX never get upset if he was touched by anybody , and said gHe is unusually gentle, but you made a mistake that you did not send him for a training! He is too gentle, useless for a watchdog!h I
thought
gIs this lady looking for a trouble with me or what?h at that time. I would say that the Labrador the lady is having is not an admirable dog! Sure he went for training and walks just beside the lady, but the lady let him walk and donft let him run, so he is fat as a logc
Besides that, the lady punishes her dog viciously when the dog did not do
what she said. She hit the dog with stick so bad, and so long timec
I let REX go free at wide open field everyday. I can do this because I trust REX that he will never get in to trouble, and will come back to me
whenever I call him.

I was kind of worry if my way to grow him up is not right, REX is too gentle and he might be an useless for a watchdog just the lady saidc
However, few months later, one thing happened and my worry was completely wiped out.

Me and REX were walking around. We saw one old lady who was walking toward fell down on ground. Things in her shopping bag were scattered on the ground. Seems like she hit her knees and could not stand up. I came to her to help and leash REX to the post near there. I came up to her and help her to stand up, pick up things for her.
At that time, I see another stray dog approaching to us. I realized I saw
many people with their dogs, and often see stray dogs around here. The old lady tried to pick up a pack of meat, but the stray dog picked it up before she did.
The old lady seems she does not like dogs, as well she want the pack of meat back, she grab and pull the pack of meat from the dogfs mouth and said
g shoo, shoo, no, let go!h. I hear dogs growling and I thought it is
dangerous. The dog was growling as if it is going to bite the old lady.

I grab the meat pack and warn the dog
hWait!h, but that made the dog mad.
The moment I took the pack of meat, the dog jumped to me. Next moment I thought
gWhat a weak animal the human being ish. It is shame to tell but I could not do anything the dog jumped to me. The dog was bit smaller than
Siberian Husky but it was so quick when dog is attacking to the enemy. No time to escape! I was bitten my elbow and the dog did not let me go. I was wearing thick jacket but hurt so bad.

Next moment I see something unbelievablec
Rex , I leashed at a post, was attacking the dog biting me!
I was worried about REX just after I released from the dogc but I realized I was wrong few seconds later.
REX keeps attacking the dog and the dog could not fight back or do anything at all.
The dogs hair scattered around in few seconds, then it runs away.
Rex was excited and run after the dog, but he came back to me soon. I noted REXfs leash was bitten off. I was cried, not from the pain, but was touched that REX bite the leash off and tried to protect me desperately. I hold REX tight and cried.

Maybe every dog has an instinct to protect his owner, but I was so surprised that Dobermanfs instinct as well as fighting strength.

I would not let any body say guseless for a watchdogh.

Rex is not just a pet for me but he save me as his life on line, the most
valuable partner I have ever trust.
